96 Saab 850 Special, Jahr 1966. Farbe hellgelb mit einem zweifarbigen Innenraum; graues Kunstleder mit braunem Tuch kombiniert. Dieses schöne und sehr spezielle Saab wurde neu verkauft in Kalifornien, USA, wo das Auto nur einen Besitzer kannte. Das Saab war fast rostfrei und es wurde in die Niederlande importiert im Jahr 2008. In den Jahren 2010 bis 2013 wurde der Wagen ausgiebig restauriert nach Top-Zustand! Seit Abschluss der Restauration hat das Auto weniger als 1000 km gefahren.

Der Saab 96 850 Special wurde am Ende des Jahres 1965 Eingeführt. Das Auto wurde im Saab Modellprogramm platziert zwischen der Saab 96 850 'De Luxe' und den Sport Modell Saab 96 850 Monte Carlo. Die ‘Special‘ verwendet die Karosserie und den Innenraum des "Luxus" und der Aufhängung und dem Motor (55 PS) des Monte-Carlo-Modell. Die ‘Special‘ wurde in begrenzten Stückzahlen produziert, da es nur in Dänemark, den Niederlanden, der Schweiz und den USA Verkauft wurde. Die meisten ‘Special‘ Modelle gibt es nicht mehr, die Autos wurden gestrippt um Teile für die Wiederherstellung der teureren Monte Carlo-Modelle zu verwenden. Diese ungewöhnliche Saab Modelle sind jetzt selten.
Diese sehr schöne Saab 96 850 Special ist ausgestattet mit ein Monte Carlo Innenraum, Armaturenbrett, Sportlenkrad und Fahrlampen. Svenska Aeroplan AB, SAAB originally started as a manufacturer of aero planes. After the second world war the firm decided to expand their business and started developing and manufacturing automobiles. It started with the Saab 92. The car was given a very aerodynamic bodywork and the car was fitted with a DKW two stroke engine. Saab decided to enter the car in rally competitions which brought great success. The Saabs were light, agile and aerodynamic. This combined with front wheel drive proved to the perfect ingredients for a successful rally car. The make became famous with amongst others rally driver Erik Carlsson.
The Saab 96 saw the light of day in the year 1960. Like it's predecessors the car was fitted with a three cylinder two stroke engine. In the year 1966 the two stroke engine was abandoned. From then the Saab 95 and 96 were fitted with a durable Ford V4 engine. The 3-speed gearbox was also discontinued in favour of a 4-speed fully synchronized box. The column gearshift was continued which certainly has advantages in rally driving! Considering the impressive rally history of Saab the 96 model is a perfect car to participate in historic rally events!
