Ford Escort Mk I rally car, year 1970. Chassis number GCATKU652XX. Colour white with blue striping and a black rally interior. This fantastic Ford Escort Mk I was extensively restored and rally prepared; the car is in excellent condition and it drives perfect! The unitary bodywork was reinforced and all welded through, additionally a roll-cage was fitted. Mechanically the car was also extensively prepared: a four-cylinder Ford Pinto 2 Litre engine was fitted. The engine features a modified and optimized cylinder head, ‘fast’ high-lift camshaft, two double Weber carburettors, a free-flow exhaust manifold and an aluminium radiator. The power unit delivers 166 bhp in this specification. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The suspension was also upgraded: adjustable shock absorbers all round, vented disc brakes, Atlas rear axle with limited- slip differential and 15-inch light alloy wheels. The interior has been rally prepared with a special dashboard, Cobra sports bucket seats and electrically adjustable four-point safety harnesses. This spectacular rally Escort can cover good distances with its double fuel tanks totalling a capacity of 100 litres. This Ford Escort rally car is ready for action!
