Ford MUTT M151 A2 ¼-Ton, 4×4 ‘JEEP’, year 1970. This fantastic ford MUTT US Army ‘JEEP’ is the successor of the legendary Willy’s M38 ‘JEEP’, the M151 was presented in 1959. The abbreviation MUTT stands for Military Utility Tactical Truck. This magnificent example was imported to the Netherlands in the year 1993, the automobile has driven 44.000 miles from new. This Ford ‘JEEP’ was perfectly maintained and serviced over the years. The current owner has driven the car very regularly, and almost daily in summer conditions. He invested in better sound proofing and in improved reliability. A file folder containing invoices describing work done to the car is present. The Ford MUTT M151 A2 features independent suspension which offers much more comfort than its M38 predecessor. The M151 A2 is the improved version which was introduced in 1968. This Ford MUTT drives perfectly, the powerful 2300 cc petrol engine (71 bhp and 178 Nm torque at 1800 rpm) runs smoothly and quietly, the gearbox shifts superbly, and the brakes are powerful. This Ford MUTT comes loaded with period correct options like perfect army green weather equipment, a working field radio, aerials, additional lamps, a working siren, an axe, a spade, and much more. In the US Army the Ford MUTT was succeeded by the AM General HMMWV also known as ‘HUMVEE’ in 1988. This Ford MUTT is a very desirable example for the enthusiast!
