Morris Mini Cooper Mk 2, 1968

Morris Mini Cooper Mk 2, year 1968. Colour Almond green with a crème white roof-top. Black interior with special rally seats and black carpet. This magnificent Mini Cooper has been in one family for twenty years. The car was extensively and ‘nut & bolt’ restored in the year 2001, a photo report of this extensive restoration is present. The bodywork was given a primer ‘bath’ so the primer has reached all corners of the naked metal inside and out. Now, 17 years later no trace of rust can be found. This Mini Cooper is in very good condition, with slight traces of use, and the car drives perfectly! The car comes very well documented; Documents of the last owner’s purchase in the UK are present as are restoration invoices and a BMC Heritage certificate. During the restoration and overhaul process a bigger 1300 cc engine was fitted with a ‘fast road’ camshaft, a bigger S.U. HIF 44 carburettor, a ‘free-flow’ exhaust manifold, an oil-cooler, spin-on/ off oil filter modification, power brake-servo and Cooper S disc-brakes at the front and drums at the rear. The original 998 cc engine is INCLUDED in this sale.

Over the years this sporty Morris Mini Cooper has participated in several historic rally events like the Tulpenrallye and the Winter Trial. The following additional rally modifications have been made/ added to this Mini Cooper:

Extra petrol tank on the right (original 1968 option), now 50 litres petrol-capacity, two ‘fast-fill’ fuel-caps, roll-cage with detachable horizontal bar, Cobra bucket-seats, OMP 4-point safety harnesses with tensioners on the parcel shelf, Smiths revolution counter, Halda Tripmaster, Halda Speedpilot, ‘mottled’ aluminium dashboard panel, Sparco foot-pedals, Fire-extinguisher in front of the driver’s seat, 12V mains-switch, navigator flexible map reading lamp, two Lucas LR14 long-range spot-lamps, Minilite 10-inch alloy wheels, sump protection plate, sports steering wheel with leather covered rim and an original rally roof-rack, leather safety latch on bonnet, longer dashboard switches, rear window demister and a reversing lamp. The car comes with two sets of keys. This magnificent Mini Cooper is ready for any new adventure!
