Riley Nine ‘Monaco’, 1933
Riley Nine ‘Monaco’, year 1933. Colour two-tone black-green combined with a green leather interior. This remarkable pre-war Riley ‘Monaco’ saloon is one of the earliest Riley models with an aluminium clad saloon bodywork. The earlier types featured a Weyman style bodywork (wood frame covered with horsehair soundproofing and a vinyl top-layer). This riley is in a fantastic super original condition, showing loads of patina (signs of use and age) and very nice original details. The car was brought up-to-date mechanically and electrically; an alternator was fitted instead of the DC dynamo and recently the gearbox was overhauled. The car has proven to be a very reliable companion. The car has participated in some pre-war car rallies including the 2018 Paris – Amsterdam. This delightful Riley Nine ‘Monaco’ is powered by a 35 bhp. 1087 cc four cylinder in-line engine. The car is fitted with cable operated drum brakes around. This Riley may be your entry ticket in the world of pre-war rally driving!
