De Tomaso Pantera, year (March) 1972. Chassis (VIN) number THPNMA03000. Colour red combined with a black leatherette interior and black carpet. This De Tomaso Pantera is currently equipped with a carbon engine hood and front bonnet, the original parts are present. This impressive De Tomaso Pantera was shipped from California in the USA to Germany in the year 2015. In Germany much attention was given to bring the car mechanically up to date. Several parts were renewed, invoices are present. The 351 Ford Cleveland V8 engine is fitted with an Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburettor, and alloy Edelbrock rocker covers. This De Tomaso Pantera is very spectacular to drive, and the V8 exhaust note is wonderful! This De Tomaso Pantera was never restored, and the car still comes with the origin al American ‘title’. The car can be imported and registered in any country worldwide. This Pantera is in a good condition with a very nice fully original interior! The bodywork and the paintwork show some imperfections here and there which can be corrected quite easily, the price reflects this. This De Tomaso Pantera comes with the original steering wheel and the original De Tomaso Campagnolo alloy wheels which are shod with Goodyear Eagle 15-inch tyres. The De Tomaso Pantera was built in Modena Italy and is an impressive Italian sports car featuring a centrally mounted Ford V8 engine. De Tomaso sold Panteras in the USA under agreement with Ford through the Lincoln and Mercury dealer network. The 1973 oil-crisis ended the agreement, and De Tomaso took over all the Pantera shares. The combination of Italian design (Ghia, Tom Tjaarda), great road holding capabilities, and American V8 muscle (330 bhp) proved to be a successful recipe. Until 1992, a total of 6128 Panteras were built. This very original example is one of the sought-after cars from the first Ford years! This De Tomaso is a rare collector item and an impressive driver car for the enthusiast!

The DeTomaso Pantera was introdced in 1970 succeeding the DeTomaso Vallelunga (1964-1966) and the DeTomaso Mangusta (1967-1970).
This Italian marque was founded by Mr. Alejandro de Tomaso who was originally born in Argentina and moved to Europe in the year 1955. In the year 1956 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Haskell, in Italy. Elizabeth Haskell was very wealthy and she supported Alejandro de Tomaso in his passion; building sportscars.
After building a lot of sports- and racing prototypes the first DeTomaso production sportscar saw the light of day in the year 1964; the DeTomaso Vallelunga.
De Tomaso had his cars designed by the Italian designhouse Ghia. The Mangusta was designed by Giorgetto Giugaro and the Pantera was designed by the Dutchman Tom Tjaarda.
The Vallelunga and the Mangusta were built with glassfibre reinforced plastic bodies, fitted to a special "central-tube-chassis" onto which the suspension components, and the engine were mounted.
With the introduction of the Pantera the steel unitary bodywork construction was introduced with the use of plastic bonnets.
De Tomaso used Ford engines from start. The Vallelunga was equipped with a four cylinder Ford Cortina engine, the later models were fitted with very powerfull Cleveland V8 engines coming from Ford U.S.A. (The engine was also used in the Ford Mustang Mach I musclecar).
In the year 1973 the Pantera was updated technically, the engine now produced an additional 40 bhp. - 350 bhp.
The DeTomaso Pantera is currently still being manufactured on a vry small scale in the U.S.A. where the car has many adepts.
