Fiat 1200 Cabriolet, 1961 | € 25.950,--
Fiat 1200 Pininfarina Cabriolet, year 1961. First registered on 14 July 1961. Chassis (VIN) number 118G-012289*. Finished in cream white (Old English White), combined with a black faux-leather interior and grey carpeting. The car is fitted with a black vinyl hood and matching hood cover. This beautiful Fiat 1200 Cabriolet was sold new in the Netherlands in a pale blue colour scheme. Our detailer immediately recognised the car from his boyhood by its tow bar and the unusual passenger-side exhaust outlet. A charming period detail is the old tennis ball fitted to the tow bar, a sight commonly seen in those days.
Not long after purchasing the car in 1961, the first owner had the original 1200 cc engine replaced with a 1500 cc unit. He owned a small caravan and needed the extra 20 horsepower for towing duties. Montagna d’Oro acquired the Fiat from the first owner five years ago and subsequently sold it to its second Dutch owner. Now the car has returned and is ready for new adventures in the hands of a true enthusiast. The Fiat is presented in good condition and drives delightfully. The bodywork is very good and, during its long ownership with the first owner, the car was completely repainted in Old English White (or Bianco Inglese, to maintain the Italian flair). The interior features very well-preserved faux-leather upholstery on the seats, dashboard and door panels. The carpeting on the floor and lower door panels has become discoloured over time, and the door seals would benefit from renewal. Replacing the carpet would transform the interior to a great extent. The steering wheel currently fitted is not original and will be replaced with the correct original item shown in the photographs. This Fiat 1200 Cabriolet, equipped with the 75 bhp 1500 engine instead of the original 55 bhp unit, is a wonderful driver's car. A Dutch-delivered classic with a story of remarkably long-term ownership, it is a stylish and characterful open-top Italian classic designed by Pininfarina.
This Fiat is for sale at Montagna d’Oro.

The Fiat 1500 convertible saw the light of day in the year 1963. The 1500 succeeded the Fiat 1200 convertible which was on the market since the year 1959. The bodywork of the fiat 1500 was the same as the 1200, only the front and the bonnet (deleted air intake) were altered. The lines of the fiat 1200/ 1500 convertible were drawn by Pininfarina. The roadholding capabilities of the 1500 were largely the same as the 1200. The bigger engine however gave the 1500 much more power and a higher top-speed. The 1500 engine delivered 25 extra horsepower and the top speed was increased by 20 kilometers per hour.
As the 1200 convertible the 1500 convertible was very suitable for comfortable touring.
The Fiat 1200 and 1500 convertibles feature a unitary bodywork structure and a four speed manual gearbox with floor shift. The 1500 was fitted with disk brakes at the front wheels.
These charming convertibles are hard to find nowadays.
