Fiat 124 Sport Spider 1600 (BS1), 1972 (first registration 28 February 1972). Chassis (VIN) number: BS10049554, engine number: 4180231. Colour yellow (Colorado Yellow 241) combined with a black leatherette interior trimmed with anthracite carpet. The hood is made of black mohair cloth, black vinyl hood cover. The This gorgeous Fiat 124 Sport Spider was sold new in the USA, and it was imported to the Netherlands in June 1993. The full American history, including service invoices, is present up to 1992. After arriving in the Netherlands, the Fiat was converted to European specifications with amongst others the fitment of chrome bumpers, European headlamp units, and an odometer reading in km/h instead of miles. Bills of the conversion and some other work add up to 17.000 Dutch guilders (€15.500 today via indexed calculation). Later service invoices are also present, we have seldom seen a car so well documented! This fiat 124 Sport Spider is in a very good to excellent condition and the car drives perfectly. The car features a 1592 cc four-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts and a power output of 108 DIN hp. With a five-speed gearbox, a weight just below of 1000 kg, and a top speed of 185 km/h the Fiat 124 Sport Spider will mingle comfortably in modern traffic. The great looking body shape was drawn by Pininfarina. The interior shows the transition to the 1970s with one of the last wood veneered dashboards and sporty “blacked out” chrome trim (gauge bezels and steering wheel centre in matte black) to suppress glare and sun blinding. This was a new insight adopted from rally and racing cars. This beautiful Fiat 124 Sport Spider looks a picture in these colours and fitted with the original alloy wheels. This fine example will bring a lot of joy and driving fun to the proud new owner!

The Fiat 124 saloon model was introduced in 1966 on the Geneva motor Show. The Fiat 124 range was extended with a station wagon and a 124 Sport Spider designed by Pininfarina later that year. On the Geneva show of 1967 the 124 Sport Coupé, designed by the Fiat Styling centre, was presented. Where the Fiat 124 saloon and station wagon were fitted with a common 1200 cc four-cylinder engine with overhead valves and pushrods, the 124 sport Spider and the 124 Sport Coupé featured an advanced 1438 cc unit with twin overhead camshafts (driven by a toothed belt) and a five-speed gearbox instead of a four-speed unit. In 1969 the Sport models were succeeded by the updated series 2 models with new styling details and a new 1608 cc 110 bhp engine option which was derived from the Fiat 125. The 124 Sport Coupe was updated again in 1973 and a 1756 cc engine became available. The Sport Coupé was built until 1975. Good and well-preserved original examples are rare and very desirable.
