Ford GT 40 Mk I 1966 Continuation. This fantastic Ford GT 40 Continuation was car number two built by JW Automotive engineering, chassis number 6N66C1153XX. This Ford GT 40 Mk I Continuation is finished in the original Gulf Sport Le Mans colours, light blue with orange striping and wheel centres. This GT 40 Continuation was built with a tubular frame, and a GRP (tri-axial fibre glass) monocoque passenger compartment. Like the original GT 40 Mk I this recreation features petrol tanks in both sills and a Ford Racing V8 engine. The car is fitted with a 400 bhp Ford 302 cui V8 engine mated to an Audi Sport ‘reverse shift’ automatic gearbox. Suspension is with double wishbones around, controlled by QAI ‘coil over’ shock dampers. The very effective brake system works with vented (drilled and slotted) disk brakes on all wheels. The wheels are wonderful BRM style 18-inch light alloys shod with 335/30-18 tyres at the rear and 285/30-18 tyres at the front. In September 2017 this Ford GT40 Continuation was part of the ‘Wall of Fame’ exhibition to celebrate the anniversary of the Club des V in Belgium. The event was inaugurated by former Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx (1969 with Ford GT) and he put his signature inside the right door of this fantastic Ford GT 40 Continuation. This racing car comes very well documented, including many press clippings. This is a unique opportunity to buy a Ford GT 40 Mk I 1966 Continuation signed by Ford GT 40 Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx!
