Ford Mustang V8 hardtop, year 1965. Chassis (VIN) number 5R07K202487*. Colour Ivy green combined with an Ivy and Gold leathercloth ‘pony’ interior. This magnificent Ford Mustang 289 V8 Hardtop was sold new in the USA. In February 2008 the car was purchased by Mr. P. Paccione in California. In 2014 the car was sold to Victoria Australia via RM Auctions. In the years 2014-2016 the Ford was extensively restored by a Mustang specialist on behalf of the owner. The car was fully stripped, and the very sound bodywork was given perfect new paintwork. The chrome parts were re-chromed, the glass was renewed where necessary, the interior upholstery and carpet was fully renewed, the wiring loom was renewed, and Borgeson power steering was fitted. The mechanicals like the engine, gearbox, suspension, and axles were overhauled. No expenses were spared in this nut and bolt restoration! In 2017 this wonderful Ford Mustang was sold to the Netherlands. The car is being serviced and maintained by S2 Classic Cars ever since. In 2019 new disc brakes, wheel bearings, (EU) headlamps and a new battery were fitted. In 2021 a compression measurement was done which indicated that the Australian engine overhaul was not done properly. It also became clear that the engine was not the originally fitted K-Code V8. In 2023 an overhauled 1965 Ford Mustang 289 V8 engine was ordered, the motor was fitted in 2024. This magnificent 1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop 289 V8 is in an excellent condition and the car drives impressively. With the four speed manually operated gearbox it is a joy guide the 271 horses to the rear wheels! This Ford Mustang will be a treasure for the Ford Mustang enthusiast and collector.
