Lotus Esprit S1, year 1978. Chassis (VIN) number: 77060322H, engine number: 7770513791. Colour yellow combined with a brown cloth (like velour) interior decorated with a yellow checker pattern on the centre arm rest and on the door panels. The Lotus Esprit was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the prototype was presented in Turin in 1972. The Esprit S1 was produced from 1976. Being a leading Formula 1 constructor in the 1960s and 1970s (proudly displayed on a batch on the back of the car) the Lotus Esprit was constructed as a racing car for the road. The car featured a steel backbone chassis and a GRP bodywork in the best lightweight Lotus tradition. The engine was placed longitudinally behind the seats. The 2 Litre Lotus 907 four-cylinder engine was mated to a 5-speed gearbox which was also used in the Citroën SM and Maserati Merak. In 1977 the Lotus Esprit gained fame through the James bond Film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ where it converted into a submarine. This sought-after Lotus Esprit S1 was sold new in the USA. In the year 2015 the car was shipped to Europe. In Europe the car was perfectly repainted in the original colour. This fantastic Lotus Esprit is in a very good and very well-maintained original condition. The original interior is still in a wonderful condition! The car shows all the original details like the Wolfrace wheels and all the original badges. The driving experience is magnificent. The driving position is very horizontal and racy, the bucket seats are great, and the instruments cluster must have been a very futuristic detail in the 1970s. The car comes with a complete history from day 1, all the previous owners are known. The thick and comprehensive file folder contains everything one needs to know about this very special motorcar. The Esprit S1 (type number 79) was produced from 1976 until 1978, only 718 examples were built. The car is registered in the Lotus register.
