Morgan Plus 4 ‘bustle back’, year 1956. Chassis (VIN) number 3528, engine number TS10658. Factory original matching numbers, a heritage certificate, signed by Charles Morgan is present to confirm this). Exterior colour dark blue (Midnightwatch Blue) combined with a Burgundy coloured full leather interior. The car comes with black ‘bad weather equipment’ consisting of a soft-top, aluminium side screens and a tonneau cover. The Morgan Plus 4 ‘bustle back’ is the rarest Plus 4 model because of its transitional body style with its more upright back in 1930s style. Only a few dozen cars of this model were built from 1956 until October 1958 (from chassis number 4023), when Morgan switched to the sloping rear panel and offset fuel filler. This classic Morgan was sold new in Minnesota USA. Allegedly, the car was fitted with competition upgrades from new. This magnificent morgan Plus 4 was extensively and perfectly restored and modified in the USA. The modifications were carried out to improve the brakes (safety), the performance, the handling and the comfort of operation. The brakes were upgraded to a dual-circuit system with Plus 8 disc-brakes at the front wheels. A Triumph TR6 clutch was fitted because of its lighter operation whilst at the same time be powerful enough to deal with the extra power of the tuned engine. The engine is the original Triumph TR3 unit which is fitted with dual twin choke Weber (42 DCOE) carburettors. The carburettors with their air-filters fit snugly under a special ‘power bulge’ in the right side of the bonnet. Furthermore, the cooling was improved, and aluminium oil sump was fitted, and electric fuel pump with pressure regulator was installed, a side exhaust was mounted, and finally top-class Koni shock absorbers were fitted. The engine runs and sounds perfectly, and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a snappy operating four speed manual gearbox. The care handles perfectly with the Koni shocks and the Continental 195-60-15 tires on the light (72 spoke) wire wheels. The driving experience is very intense and spectacular with the steering wheel close by, the deep seating position, and the impressive view over the long bonnet with heat escaping thru the two rows of cooling slits. Add the sporty sound track that escapes via the side exhaust and you know that the game is on! For VERY experienced drivers that is!

The Morgan 4/4 was built for 50 years. the first model, introduced in the year 1936 was the 4/4 with flat radiator which was built until the year 1951. After a four year break (only the Morgan plus 4 was built those years) the Morgan 4/4 was going to be rebuild. The car did not change a lot (conservative as they are at the Morgan company), only the shape of the radiator changed from flat to cowled. Morgan never built their own engine, the early flat radiator cars were powered by Standard or Ford engines. The cowled radiator models were powered by Ford engines. The Ford engine used was known as the "Kent"engine and was also used in Fords Cortina model. Morgan 4/4 1600 cars were powered by the 1599 cc. Ford Kent engine which had a standard capacity of 98 bhp. giving the light car (two seater 660 kg./ four seater 785 kg.) sporty performance. Drivers who wanted additional torque and power were offered the Triumph TR four cylinder engine which offered a power output of 96 bhp. (TR3) or 105 bhp. (TR4). These cars were named Plus four. The four speed gearbox was fully synchronized. The Morgan 4/4 is a very special car to drive because it has it's own strong character. It cannot be compared with any other roadster or convertible.
