About Amicale Facel Holland
FACEL VEGA was the last truly prestigious French motorcar to offer class, quality and performance in the sadly bygone tradition of Bugatti, Delage, Delahaye, Hispano Suiza and Talbot Lago. With only around 3,000 Facel Vegas built over a period of ten years, this remarkable car has remained a rarity. This exotic make of car still appeals to the imagination of many, including Amicale Facel Holland’s founder, Hans Ruhé. As a Facel Vega driver and enthusiast (for nearly 40 years now!), he has acquired in-depth knowledge of the history of this unique motorcar.
The Establishment of Amicale Facel Holland
In 1990, Hans Ruhé started Amicale Facel Holland (AFH) to safeguard the supply of spare parts for this illustrious motorcar. Working with his wife, Marian, he tackled this task energetically. In the years that followed, AFH arranged for the fabrication of thousands of new Facel Vega spare parts. Nearly all the parts necessary for maintenance, repair and restoration of a Facel Vega are available.
Network
Within a few years, AFH had access to a vast network of Facel Vega owners, repairers and enthusiasts. AFH has identified nearly all existing Facel Vega motorcars via its directory and network. The details of these cars are constantly recorded and updated.
AFH Restoration workshops
AFH has had its own restoration workshops since 1995.
Facel Vega cars are not easy to restore. As they are almost entirely handmade, there are many differences in each model. Many parts are not interchangeable. It takes considerable expertise and experience to restore a Facel Vega to its original grandeur.
Expertise
Hans Ruhé is a well-known expert and authority on the Facel Vega. Many people appreciate and call on his expertise. His advice is often sought in advance of publications about the make. Among others, the splendid book, ‘Facel Vega Grand Luxe Sportif’, published by Palawan Press in 2007, was a testimony to his expert status.
