Alvis Speed 20 SB Tourer, year 1933. Colour black combined with red wire wheels and a red leather interior. Red carpet, red mohair hood, and a red mohair tonneau cover. This beautiful Alvis Speed 20 SB was sold new in the United Kingdom: UK registration AXB850. This Alvis comes with a complete history file from new. The car was sold new with a Charlesworth saloon bodywork. In the 1960s the bodywork proved to be beyond repair, and a Cross & Ellis Tourer body was fitted. The bodywork was taken from an Alvis Speed 20 SA with registration HY6195 which was in possession of the same owner. This modification is described in the logbook and DVLA documentation. This wonderful pre-war Alvis Speed 20 SB with Cross & Ellis Tourer bodywork was extensively restored in the United Kingdom. A photo report of the restoration is present. The automobile drives and handles delightfully, the fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox shifts easily, and the brakes operate very securely. The automobile is fitted with red painted wire wheels shod with 5/25/5.50 x 20 Dunlop Tyres. This Alvis Speed 20 shows many wonderful details! The car comes complete with an original Alvis record and the original V5c document. The automobile can be imported and admitted in any country worldwide.

Alvis history

Alvis was founded by Thomas George John and G.P. de Freville. The first cars built under the Alvis name were manufactured in 1920, and the last Alvis (sports) cars came out of the factory in Coventry 47 years later. The ending of the brand name Alvis was sealed when it was incorporated into the British Leyland concern, where it became part of Rover.

The Alvis cars were of great quality and workmanship and were very fast as well. As for their cars, many parts were designed and manufactured by Alvis’ own staff, and production was small-scaled and exclusive. In the 1920s, Alvis was the first British car model to experiment with four-wheel drive. In fact, in 1925, they even manufactured sports and racing cars equipped with front-wheel drive, which had also been fitted with an overhead camshaft.
