Ford Cortina GT, year 1966 (first registration 5 March 1966). Colour green with a silver stripe over the sides. Black rally interior. This magnificent Ford Cortina GT was sold new in France. The automobile was extensively restored, rally prepared and tuned in France about twelve years ago. The car was purchased by the current owner in September 2014 and imported to the Netherlands. The car was used in touring and regularity rallies in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe. The automobile is in a very good condition and ready to be enjoyed to the fullest. The bodywork shows one spot of corrosion in the front lower edge of the driver’s door, the other body parts are completely sound. This Ford Cortina GT is beautifully prepared for rally driving. The engine and the suspension were up-rated, wider steel wheels were fitted, a roll cage was installed. Furthermore, an aluminium petrol tank was fitted, Cobra bucket seats with Oreca 4-point safety harnesses, and a ‘twin’ rally tripmeter.

The Ford Cortina Mk I was presented in September 1962. The car was available as a standard and luxury model in 2- or 4-door versions. The Cortina was intended for the English market but was also available in other European countries. Very characteristic were the sloping side stripes and the Y-shape in the round rear lights. The Cortina was given an engine with an overhead camshaft, a 4-speed gearbox and modern MacPherson front wheel suspension. In 1963, the Cortina 1500 Super, the Cortina GT and the Cortina Estate were released. The sporty Ford Cortina GT was equipped with a 1500cc engine with a double Weber carburettor, disc brakes at the front and a modified sporty chassis.
