Saab 96 Monte Carlo 850, year 1967. Colour pale blue combined with a blue / grey (cloth / leathercloth) interior. The Saab 96 Monte Carlo 850 was built to commemorate the victories of rally driver Erik Carlsson in the 1962 and 1963 Monte Carlo rallies. The Monte Carlo model features special options and details: The 850-cc engine is fitted with three carburettors, an automatic two stroke oil lube system, and the wheels are mounted to the hubs with five bolts instead of four on other Saab 96 models. Optically the Monte Carlo distinguishes itself by the ‘Monte Carlo’ badges, special seats and rear bench, the sporty dashboard with wood rimmed steering wheel, special door cards and double chrome strips on the sides. This wonderful example was extensively restored in the past. The bodywork was galvanized (zinc-coated). A photo report and invoices of the restoration are present. This Saab monte Carlo 850 is in excellent condition showing slight signs of use, and the car drives perfectly. The two-stroke engine delivers 55 bhp and the four-speed gearbox with steering column shift-stick works beautifully. The 850 is fitted with disc brakes on the front wheels and an AC dynamo (alternator). The car comes complete with the original owner’s manuals which show all the special original details. This is a very desirable specimen for the Saab enthusiast and collector.
