Make history

Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, year 1980. Colour ‘Embassy Black’ with silver-grey striping combined with a grey / black cloth interior. This is a rare Talbot Sunbeam Lotus in super original, very good and very well-maintained condition. Only 2308 examples of the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus have been built from 1977 until 1980, this is a true collector’s car which was built in 1979 and first registered in 1980. The car has been part of a private car collection in the Netherlands. The car comes well documented with Dutch documents and certificates of the Sunbeam Lotus Owners Club. Recently the car was extensively inspected and serviced by SJ-Sportscars in Great Britain. A new (distribution) V-belt was fitted, the steering gear and the alternator were renewed, and a new Stainless-Steel exhaust was fitted including the manifold. Also, the engine was fine-tuned perfectly.
The Talbot Sunbeam lotus features a powerful 2174 cc four-cylinder Lotus engine which delivers 145 bhp. The gearbox is a 5-speed unit with a race / rally ‘dog-leg’ layout (first gear in the location where you usually expect to find second gear). The car features REAR WHEEL DRIVE! By the shape and size, you would expect the Sunbeam Lotus to be a VW Golf GTI competitor… Forget it, the Sunbeam Lotus is a MUCH more potent and aggressive sports car which was also used in the rally championships. In the year 1981 the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus astonished the world by winning the world rally Championship, competing against the Audi Quattro, the Renault 5 Turbo, the Fiat 131 Abarth, Ford Escort RS1800, and the Toyota Celica 2000GT!
