Montagna D'Oro was founded in 2001 by René Goudberg. Born in the 60s, René has been captivated by the style, technology, and beautiful engine sounds of classic Italian cars from the 60s and 70s from a young age. After obtaining his driver's license, one Italian car after another passed in review, Fiats, Lancia’s, but especially Alfa Romeos. Educated and trained as a meatman, René started his own butcher business, but the car passion remained alive and kicking. He regularly went to visit Italy in search of beautiful classics to buy. After a decade of purchasing and collecting, René had built up a considerable collection around the turn of the century.

From collecting to selling clasic cars

René's classic Italian car collection had grown so far that cars had to be sold again, the hobby had literally gotten out of hand. He decided to handle the sale professionally and started a classic Italian car dealership alongside his butcher business. A business hall was rented as a showroom and Montagna d’Oro was established. René did not have to think long about a company name, his surname ‘Goudberg’ translated into Italian sounds great: Montagna d'Oro! The classic car sales was taken up energetically and in 2005 he decided to sell his butcher business, staying employed as a consultant. In the years that followed, René was scouting for fine classic Italian cars in Italy and other parts of Europe, and was selling the found beauties in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.

A new showroom with Italian style and class

In 2013 René realized a dream by building new business premises in Oosterwolde with showrooms on two floors. The new showrooms, offices and shop were furnished and decorated entirely according to his own wishes and insights. The sales collection of fine Italian classics is presented in a tasteful environment with Italian style and allure. Walls and all cabinets are ‘piano-tight’ lacquered in famous historic Italian car colours. The classics from the 1950s, 60s and 70s are presented on the ground floor, the ‘young-timers’ from the 1980s up to about the 10s of this century are displayed on the first floor. Also, a wonderful open kitchen has been realized in the centre of the showroom.

Our motto: “quality, originality, and service”

Under the motto "quality, originality, and service", Montagna d'Oro offers a variety of classic models from the Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Fiat brands. Beautiful sports cars from Ferrari and Maserati and compact minis from Autobianchi, and Innocenti also find pride of place in the showrooms. Montagna d’Oro mainly sells very original, good quality classics. In their opinion the Holy Grail is factory originality with an exceptionally low mileage, as few traces of use as possible, as few (partial) restorations as possible and superbly maintained. These cars are scarce so you will also find extensively restored classics that have been restored with an eye for originality. All cars purchased by Montagna d’Oro are subject to a comprehensive technical inspection.
