Maserati Mistral Coupé 4 Litre Injection, 1966 | € 129.500,--
Maserati Mistral Coupé 4 Litre Injection, year 1966. Chassis (VIN) number AM109/ A1/ 724, this is a ‘matching numbers’ car with the engine, gearbox and rear axle still original to the chassis and bodywork. Body colour dark blue metallic (Blu Pervinca 106AR357) combined with a blue leather interior trimmed with red carpet. This marvellous Maserati was built on May 9, 1966, and supplied to its first owner in Verona Italy. From Italy the automobile found a new home in Germany with Mr. Hans Haemer who subsequently sold the car to the father of the current owner in 1982. The family owns and cherishes this special car for 43 years now! The Maserati Mistral Coupé was introduced in 1963 and only 844 examples were built fitted with a 3.5, 3.7 and 4.0 Litre six cylinder in-line engines featuring double ignition (and twin spark plugs per cylinder) and Lucas mechanical fuel injection. In 1966 the 265 bhp top of the line 4.0 Litre engine became optionally available. The wonderful GT design by Pietro Frua distinguished itself with a wonderful combination of flowing curved and sharper edged body lines and a large, glazed tailgate giving the car a sporty yet practical appearance.
This top-of-the-line Mistral Coupé 4 litre left the factory in the colour silver metallic (Argento Auteuil) with the still current original interior. When the car was purchased in 1982, the car featured a pale blue body colour, which was then changed to dark blue (Blu Pervinca). In the 1990s the automobile was extensively restored and overhauled. Then the car received its current paint in Blu Pervinca which is starting to show some cracks on the rear sides and on the back. In 2022 the engine head was again overhauled. New valves and springs were fitted, and the fuel injectors were renewed. Additionally new (adjustable) shock absorbers were installed. This top-of-the-line Maserati Mistral is a driver car in a good to very good condition and the car drives, handles and sounds delightfully! The car is fitted with silver painted Borrani wire wheels and a spare in the boot. With matching numbers and a still beautiful fully original interior this Maserati Mistral is a fantastic time capsule. An important piece of Italian sports car heritage, coming from long-term one-family ownership, to be appreciated and enjoyed by the right new custodian with petrol in his or her veins!

The Maserati Mistral 4000 was introduced in the mid‑1960s as the successor to the Maserati 3500 GT, and it derives its name from a brisk northern wind. The elegant two‑seater coupé was designed by Pietro Frua.
The Mistral 4000 is equipped with a robust 4.0‑litre inline six‑cylinder engine producing 255 horsepower, which allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about seven seconds and reach a top speed of approximately 250 km/h (158 mph). The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a manual five‑speed ZF gearbox. The chassis features independent front suspension and a rigid rear axle, which was optionally available with a limited‑slip differential. Disc brakes were fitted all around, and the use of steel and aluminium in the bodywork helped keep the weight relatively low (around 1400 kg). This combination provided a well-balanced overall package with superb handling and the driving experience of a powerful, luxurious GT.
The Maserati Mistral 4000 GT is a rare and highly exclusive classic car. According to most sources, only 844 examples were built (although another source cites 828 units). The Maserati 4000 was also available as a Spyder model, of which only 124 were produced. The Maserati Mistral 4000 GT was built from 1966 through to 1970, and it remains a classic coupé that embodies the essence of the great, sporty Italian GT coupé.
