Invicta 4½‑Litre (series A), year 1931 (first registration 2 January 1931, year of built is 1930). Chassis (VIN) number A204, engine number 7918. Exterior colour Oxford blue combined with a black chassis and black wire wheels. Blue leather interior trimmed with blue carpet and a black mohair hood. In the 1920s Invicta gained a reputation for performance and handling. With the introduction of the 4½‑Litre model a legend was born. This very expensive top model was known as a fast-sporting model with exceptional acceleration. The Invicta 4½‑Litre was produced in very limited numbers, and surviving factory and club records indicate that approximately 50 cars were built in total. Production took place between 1930 and 1933, with the model offered in several specifications, including the Low Chassis and the later S‑Type. Bodies were supplied by a range of high‑quality coachbuilders such as Vanden Plas, Corsica, Lancefield and others, which contributes to some variation in reported figures. This extremely low output, combined with the model’s advanced engineering and competition pedigree, explains the Invicta 4½‑Litre’s reputation as one of the rarest and most desirable British sporting cars of the pre‑war period. The presented 4½‑Litre, chassis A204, still features its original four-seater open tourer bodywork by Corsica of London. The automobile was restored in the past and still retains its fantastic original details. Under the bonnet where the powerful 110 bhp Meadows straight six engine is housed, you will also find the original central lubrication system and an additional cooling fan. The four-speed gearbox is mated to a Tim Payne overdrive. The dashboard shows an array of wonder original gauges (including a very special petrol gauge) and one gauge of a later model. The interior was newly upholstered in the past and it looks very nice. This rare A-series Invicta 4½‑Litre comes from a collection. The automobile runs and drives very well, and it comes with an extensive history file. This Invicta 4½‑Litre Corsica Tourer has all the qualities you could wish for: performance, style, and rarity.

The Invicta 4½-Litre emerged in the late 1920s as the Surrey-based marque's flagship model, designed to combine exceptional performance with durability. Powered by a robust Meadows inline six-cylinder engine, it delivered effortless torque, making high-speed touring its natural habitat. Unlike many competitors, Invicta built its cars with unusually robust components, earning the car a reputation for robustness. The model's fame was cemented by Violette Cordery's endurance records, which demonstrated the Invicta's reliability under demanding conditions. In motorsport, the 4½-Litre “low chassis” proved highly capable, culminating in a class win and sixth-place overall finish at the 1931 Monte Carlo Rally. Production was limited to approximately fifty examples. Each one was hand-built and customized to the specifications of its first owner. Today, the 4½-Litre is considered one of the most admired British sports cars of the interwar period, prized for its combination of speed, technical robustness and understated style.
