Mini Special 1100, year 1976. This wonderful Mini is painted green metallic with a brown metallic roof which is combined with a plush brown cloth interior. The Mini Special 1100 is a special version which was introduced in 1979 to celebrate 20 years of the Mini. This light green Special 1100 was assembled in Belgium. Subsequently, the car was sold new in the in the Netherlands. This delightful Mini Special is being cherished by its last owner since 2009, and the odometer now reads 95.000 kilometres. Because the car had some rusty spots the owner decided to have the metal repaired and repainted. The project grew to an extensive restoration and overhaul by a professional specialist in the period 2020 – 2024. A photo report of the restoration is present. This Mini Special 1100 is in an excellent condition and the car drives perfectly! The overhauled 1098 cc engine delivers 46 hp giving the mini a spirited performance! The renewed brake system with drum brakes around stops the light car in the blink of an eye. The classic Mini is an iconic British car that caused quite a stir upon its introduction in 1959. The classic Mini debuted in 1959 as Alec Issigonis' ingenious answer to the British need for an economical car. The transversely mounted engine and wheels at each corner resulted in a compact car with remarkable interior space. By the mid-1960s, the Mini had grown into a cultural icon, beloved by both celebrities and ordinary motorists. Its success in motorsport, particularly rallying, cemented its reputation as a 'giant killer'. In the 1970s, British Leyland refined the model range while retaining the essential character of the Mini. Special editions were released to increase its appeal, each featuring its own distinctive finish and equipment. One of these was the Mini 1100 Special, introduced in 1977 to mark the Mini's 20th anniversary. It featured the lively 1098 cc engine and an improved interior.
